On the morning of January 20, I had these body aches and pains that I’ve never experienced before. My body ache , down to my fingertips and knees, they were sore and achy,” At first, I hoped for the best. Did I have a case of the common cold? . “I didn't think anything of it, because mild colds always make the rounds. “I took some Tylenol and went about my day. ... COVID never crossed my mind." Like so many others, we were being careful.

Im fully vaccinated against COVID-19. But now you’re hearing about breakthrough cases and you start to wonder: Will this happen to me? Fast forward 2 days later, I got the results. I have a breakthrough COVID infection. My case is mild, but it is evidence of just how vulnerable we still are in this pandemic.

We are lucky. Everyone has been energetic and in good spirits. It could be worse and I don’t mean to belittle those who are going through much worse. But for us, feeling healthy and stuck in the house, these types of things were the help that we really needed.

In the past few days of quarantine, I have spent more quality time with my family  than I have in months. Suddenly, there is time for movie nights and cooking together. We talk and we laugh. We come together and help dad with the house projects. It's perfect. There is no clock on our back telling us it's time to go. There is no "hurry up." We have no place to be, no place to go.

Trying times create everlasting bonds that can't be broken. And I'm finding that this quarantine is the bonding time my family and I desperately needed.
